300EX oil overflow
#1
I need any input on what would cause the oil to come out the overflow into the airbox on a '99 300EX. The overflow is slow, but will continue even when the machine is almost a quart low. It's not smoking, and doesn't appear to be getting any oil on the plug. The filter had a small amount of metal shavings, and the oil gets black within just a few hours of use. I would appreciate any ideas anyone has.

Hey,gimpbro,
One possibility could be a bad ring letter cylinder pressure blow oil out of the crankcase, this would also explain the rapid oil contamination, have a compression test done to see if blow by is the culprit.
Hope that helps
