Default jetting an 05 raptor 350

i have an 05 yamaha raptor 350. im pretty happy with it. i installed an HMF slip on pipe and i was told that ihave to jet the carb because it will run to lean. so i ordered a kit that came with a jet kit, K&N filter, and outerwear fliter sleeve. i installed the jet kit and it said that you have to turn the idle mixture screw full lean and then turn the other direction 3 full turns. that all makes sense to me. when i went to turn the screw, the slot for the screw driver started to chip. so now i cant turn it. has anyone ever had this happen to them before, if so what did you do. a friend of mine has a suzuki(sp) 400 i think and he said that when he put his jet kit in he had the same problem. he said that he had a brass plug in front of his mixture screw. he drilled it out and had access to the screw. are the raptors the same. thanks for any help
