Default Dial-a-jet questions

I have a Scrambler(see below) and with the exhaust and Dial-a-Jet, it is still running lean i think. It has the stock main jet, but the DJ is turned all the way up. Should i knock up the main jet a size?

i would say yes because running to lean is not good, it is good to run a little rich. better safe than sorry

Default Dial-a-jet questions

Its important to know what throttle range your running lean in.

The 1st 1/4 throttle is the pilot jet / mixture screw

1/4 - 3/4 throttle is the Needle

3/4 - full throttle is the Main Jet

When you put your new Pipe on did you adjust your mixture screw ?

The book that comes with my dial - a -jet said with an after marker pipe and filter to turn it one past center toward rich. Remember that dial-ajet only works under load conditions not idle.

Taken from HMF's forums
If you want to check the pilot/slow jet do this:
Find a nice long straight where you can go fast safely, note the position of the throttle, you want to be about 1/4 throttle, let the rpm's settle and pull the choke.
If it: runs better you are LEAN and need to jet RICHER.
If it:runs the same you are in the ballpark.
If it: runs worse you are too RICH and need to LEAN out the mixture.

The same can be done to check the needle clip position. You will need to hold the throttle somewhere in the 1/4 to 3/4 throttle position then do the choke test and observe the way the machine runs.

The same for the main jet but in the 3/4 to wide open throttle position, then do the choke test and observe the way the machine runs.

I am sure they would send info on the dial-a-jet. I am not an expert and it took me about a week to get my quad dialed in. Just follow the tips and you should be ok. Pipe manufacturers usally test their pipes with everthing else stock. As soon as you mod up IE high flow filters and dial-a-jets it changes things.
