Default Golf Cart Question

Ok, I know this is a atv forum but I have a golf cart question maybe one of you guys could answer. I have a 1987 Columbia/HD G4 golf cart. Problem is that when I press the throttle is goes to wide open and shuts down when I let off. The cable looks to be in working order and is fairly new, I just bought this so maybe is the wrong cable? Any help would be very much appriciated. Also am in the process of putting a 2002 Polaris 440 XCR Race motor in a 1987 EZ-GO soon to be named the Crazy-GO, 28" mud lites on ITP rims, Lifted 6", just need to make sure I dont forget the roll cage, I think I am going to need it.
Thanks
Dave

Default Golf Cart Question

A wild guess here. My golf cart has a reverse throttle. In other words when the carb is at rest without any cable hooked up the thing is wide open. ( Don't ask me how I know this!!!!) Thank God the thing was pointed in a good direction!!!
If this is the case with you, the throttle cable might have slipped. Take the air cleaner off and look into the bore and see what the blade looks like at rest and at WOT.
