FMF Pipe for a Blaster. Carb adjustments?
#1
Well, I finally broke down and bought my son a FMF Fatty Pipe for his 98 Blaster.
I am going to set it up this weekend. I have the stock air filter and oil injector still on it. We ride at sea level in Mexico, many times in the high heat.
What should the Main Jet, Idle Jet and Needle be set at?
Your experiences are greatly appreciated!

On my old Blaster when I bought the FMF fatty gold pipe with the power core II silencer all I did was go up on the jet, cant remeber the exact size of the stock jet but for example, lets say the stock was a 230, I went up to a 240 on the new pipe.
THAT WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE.
After jetting I noticed a huge gain.

First thing you have to do is remove the snorkle. This will allow the engine to breathe better. Exhaust is no good if the air isn't getting there. It will also run sputtery if you leave the snorkle on. On the main I am running a 270 (stock is 230). I was running a 280 but it would build up the plugs in the trails. No need to adjust the needle I tried and it was way to rich. I run at about 1400 so you will have to adjust for the differance in elevation. Never ran at sea level so I cant help you there. That blaster is about ready to wake up!

Thanks for the info!
How about the Idle (Pilot) jet? I am thinking about going up to a 35 since I will be increasing the Main. What did you do?
Also, if you use a 270 at 1400 feet, should I be one above (280) or one below (260) for the Main at sea level in high temperatures?
Thanks again!

SORRY ROB...YOUR RIGHT! I WAS THINKING KEIHN....
AND YOU WANT TO GO BIGGER ON THE MAIN JET THE FARTHER DOWN YOU GO.... I DO BELEIVE YOU SHOULD BE AROUND 290 ON THE MAINS.... BUT LIKE ALWAYS DO
A PLUG CHECK WHEN YOU GO SOMEWHERE NEW!!! THERE
ARE SO MANY VARIABLES EVEN IF THE BIKES ARE IDENTICAL...THEY WILL BURN DIFFERENT!!! IF THE PLUG IS DARK-TO RICH...IF THE PLUG IS TO LIGHT-TO
LEAN THERE IS NO MISTAKING IT!!!(SHOULD BE LIGHT TAN)
