banshee plan of attack, anything else recomended
#1
I am buying either a used 00 or a new 01 banshee.
I was planning on Immediately getting a toomey pipe and jet kit, delta force reed cage, pro design 19or 20cc cool head, some type of air filter. While I have it down should I pull the cyl. and polish the finger ports but not change port timing? what about the vitos power piston ? anybody run these? Also is the adv. key the best/easiest way to add timing? I mostly woods ride so torque is a plus but hate to give up much top end either.
thanks

If you are planning on doing the woods thing, do not buy Toomey pipes. They are too pipey. Go with something that has a nice bottom grunt. FMF have a pretty descent bottom pull. Do not forget LRD either. They are adjustable. Although I have never set mine up for full bottom grunt I am sure someone has and can tell you how they are. I have seen alot of guys in the woods running the 2 into 1 carbs and pipes, but I am nor fond of it. I had the 2 into 1 carb set up and it worked descent till I had my motor work done. I scrapped it for the stockers and it works a million times better. PTR pipes might also work well in a woods situation, although I have never raced anyone with a set.

I disagree. Toomey pipes have a very smooth and predictable power delivery. They are great for any kind of riding. And they fit like stock pipes.FMF pipes are pipey, very narrow power spread. They fit terribly too.I have owned and used both,Toomeys on my banshee now.

Are tires stock? If yes, change them(first than anything).
Then airfilter has to be changed. I'd recommend a K&N with outerwear(don't waste your money with a proflow K&N, you can get the same exact result with only the K&N and 5 minutes of work -I'll explain you how if you want-).
About pipes, I really could give you any advice except that between stock and aftermarket is like day and night (whatever aftermarket pipes).
Stock shocks work fine for me, even if they'r a bit harsh.
Depending on how long you ride (or how far there's a fueling station), get a big tank or rack to carry fuel. One full (really full) isn't enough for 4-5h of riding (even less if I ride big uphills and wide open).

Well I ordered toomey t5s, k$n kit ,outerwears, jet kit, cool head 19cc, delta v force reeds, 4deg. adv. key. I will have to run a 50/50 mix with race gas but thats ok i love the smell
Interestingly every top guy says not to bother with the boost bottle?

Weve got some mis-information going on here.
First, The FMF's are great pipes and mine fit perfect(cheaper than the tommeys as well).
Second: Zorros low-buck Pro-flow replacement is exactly that, low-buck and will NOT provide you with the same results as a billit aluminum piece. I have seen a dyno chart running a stock banshee with the stock airfilter and mounting setup and the same machine with the K&N with the Proflow, it picked up 4.7 horsepower over stock. So just cutting or whatever is recommended will NOT give you the same advantages as the pro design pro flow(I would not run a Banshee without one, and for $80.00 its piece of mind and and some extra horsepower to boot) No offense intended to Zorro, but the plastic will not flow the way the aluminum will.
