Default raptor 700r in 4x4 terrain

I have a friend that rides a grizzly 660. And this summer I plan on going trail riding with my buddy. I want to upgrade my raptor so I can try to keep up with him. What should I buy for my quad? Trail is going to have some rocky hills. And some mud, and creek crossings. Do I have any chance of keeping up with him. What size of mud tires should I get(front/back)? Should I go bigger? I am going to get every skid plate I could put on.
Does anyone have any advice for riding through mud and creeks with a sport quad?

Thanks for the help

I think the best tires you can buy for the rear are Mud Sharks by GBC. 21x9x12 size. My buddy has a set of those on his Rappy and they really bite in the mud. U can get them for about 65$ @.

TELL YA WHAT, IF YOUR BUDDIES 660 DOESN'T HAVE A WINCH TO PULL YOU OUT , THATS WHERE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY BECAUSE NOTHING THAT YOU DO TO YOUR 2WD IS GOING TO HANG WITH A GRIZZLY. I FINALLY GOT MINE STUCK THIS WEEK END, WELL I KINDA JUMPED OFF BRFORE THE MUDDY WATER RAN ALL THE WAY DOWN THE INSIDE OF MY BOOTS, I WINCHED IT OUT.LOL . BUT THERE IS NO WAY ANY 2WD WOULD GET THREW THIS SWAMP. THERE ARE TIMES THAT I WISH I HAD A RAPTOR FOR THE POWER AND HANDLING BUT THE GRIZZLY HOLDS ITS OWN.GET ONE OF EACH SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM.

Who said anything about going through a swamp? Anybody knows that u dont take a Raptor into a swamp. He said rocky hills and some mud. But if u want a good performing tire in mud: Mud Shark.

Definitely get the skids like you said, also I don't know if I'd get a winch but it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a tow strap it's a lot cheaper than a winch and if you need to use it even once it's well worth it instead of having to pull it out, also going through mud on a sport just lean back and pin it, that's all you can do, if you have good tires you'll make it.

HOW ARE THE MUD SHARKS ON ROCK?, MY BUDDY HAS A POLARIS, IT CAME WITH POLARIS BEEFY TREADS, THEN SEEM TO GRIP PRETTY GOOD AS LONG AS THEY CAN SINK IN, ON THE HARD ROCK AND SHALE HE HAD A HARD TIME KEEPING IT FROM SPINNING OUT.

I'm not sure. I suppose on a flat, moist rock surface, most anything would spin out. But the bite on anything else is great.

Honestly, not bad. I rode it on hard pack gravel and they're decent at high speeds.

Would it be problem to get a bigger sized tire to increase the groung clearance(front/back)? And how much bigger should I go? What have you heared about itp mudlite tires? Should I stay with the stock tires on the front or should i change those too.
thanks for the replies
