blaster engine swaps
im looking to drop out the stock 2002 motor in my blaster, does anyone know of an engine, honda, kawasaki, yamaha, suzuki, whatever would fit in there? i looked at the 400ex motors and they seem to have to many components to fit in the blaster frame. any suggestions are great as long as they are reasonable. money for the engine is about 800-1000 bucks MAX. and if you could include what is needed to do the swap and even a link at where to find it or at least a price, that'd be great. thanks guys

you could run a dirtbike engine, like a yz250 or something.

Is your motor running? and what do want for it?

would a dirtbike engine make that much of a difference like a yz450f or yz250 engine? and since they're yamaha does that mean they'll have a better chance at fitting the frame than other company motors?
whaleeditedbymoderator- yes the motor is cherry, nothing wrong at all and new top end kit so its like brand new. as for price e-mail me at Xbeastlyone17@aol.com for an offer and we can go for there man, thanks |

ummm i really hope ur kidding when u asked will it make that much of a difference! stick a 250r engine in it or a lt250 engine or a yz250 engine and u wont believe the power difference!! those blaster engines are weenies compared to those.... so thats my oppinion... dont go 4 stroke in a 2 stroke bike its meant for it and u should have it.... also u wont be able to fit a 4 stroke engine in it so dont think about it..... well hope this helps

1988fast250x- no i was talkin about if a atv and dirtbike motor would be any different from eachother if they were say both 250 2 strokes. obviously a 195cc blaster motor isnt gonna come close to a 250r engine. thanks for the help tho

the Cr250 dirt bike engine is faster than the 250r engine in the fourwheeler...

blaster engine swaps
thanks for the help man, what would i need in terms of wiring going from the blaster engine to the yz250 or cr250 engine? as well as mounting hardware? and would i need to do anything to the frame for putting on the exhaust?

im all 4 you finding out how to put some pep into your blaster but if you think about it when you decide to put a engine in a frame it not ment for it is a bigger undertaking than most people r up for your best bet is 4 you to dump your money into the engine you have like stroke it and have it bored, ported and polished, add simple things like new reeds and an aftermarket pipe and silencer will give you good tone and throttle response plus you wont hurt your structure of the quad its self

ive seen the yz 250 in a blaster without too much modifying. but like the other guy said think about the mods you can do to a blaster first. the 240 kit and a 4 mm stroke will make it a 250. may not be as great as a yz 250 but for the money and the headaches , might be something to think about. with the mods i have i can beat 400s.good luck with your search. please post some pics if you do decide to swap. i always like to see custom quads

what issues did you run into with the 490 engine, I have one that a friend of mine wants to stick in his blaster and we thought it would be a sweet torque monster.
|
blaster engine swaps
you can see it on youtube and there is a 81 yz 461? engine on ebay but its under blaster engines. its complete and ready to bolt in.

dirt bikes just seam to respond to none ballance shaft motors better than a quad and the stock 36hp or so motor for bolt-in pretty good power is the dt200 w/240 set up 3mm crank water cooled p.s. I know where ones at with a spair motor

If your asking if it would fit and what not, you dont have the know how or resources to do it. It is very time consuming, and costly and you gotta know how to do a lot of welding and refabbing stuff. Just get the big bore 240 kit and you'll be good to go.

One problem with putting a motocross engine in a ATV is the loss of 6th Gear... lose all top end speed...
|
I have an early 90s blaster and i was wondering if there was a 4 stroke engine that would fit in it im not lookin to get more power i just dont like 4 strokes
|
CR250 dirtbike engines are faster than CR250r 4 wheeler engines because they have powervalves.
|
I picked up a suzuki 230 quad that didnt have a motor in it and i was wondering if i stuck the motor from my 79 yamaha yz250 dirt bike in it if id have any problems or would i have loads of fun driving it around
