I need advice on this 300EX mod...

I have a stock 2001 300ex, and i need to know which exaust pipe you gusy would recamend. Ive been looking at the FMF Megamax 2, the White Bros. Pro-meg, and the Supertrapp IDS-2. If you have any knowledge of these pipes, please share it with me.

The Isd2 is a good pipe. I look at all the pipe makers that sell head pipes. I really dont see a difference except for Another $200. So just get an isd2 slip on silencer. And dont forget to rejet. Also if you dont ride in alot of water remove the air box lid and rejet

The exotic1 just gave you the recipe for failure to just put a silencer on a 300 ex and rejet the carb will give you little to no noticable change accept make it louder, and to think that taking off the air box lid would help is just the opposite it will worsen your problem. They only statement that he made that is half true is that the head pipe is another $200. Let me explain that on a warrior or a 400EX the stock head pipe is large enough that you can just add a silencer, rejet and see a sizable gain in performance but on the 300EX that has a garden hose for a head pipe you can't just add a silencer and rejet you'lle be waisting your money. True the supertrapp is a good pipe I have one on my wife race machine but to get the power out of the motor you need to let it breath you can put the most free flowing silencer you can find on that machine but if the pipe restricts the flow what have you gained and if you take off the box lid and rejet you will be dumping more fuel to the cylinder than you need. My suggestion to you is to add a pipe and silencer combo to your machine along with a KN air filter, jet kit, and remove the air box lid. Also when you do this to the 300ex you really need to add an aftermarket CDI with the addition of the pipe and silencer the motor just starts coming on strong when the rev limiter kicks in.

I run a DG RCM pipe on my 300EX and the head pipe is much larger than the stock pipe. I also put in a K&N filter...these two mods required me to rejet from the stock 122 up to a 128 on the main jet and up one size on the pilot jet. I left the air box lid on. If you want top end torque, go with a longer head pipe that curls around the outside of the frame off the engine...for lower end torque, go with a shorter pipe that curls between the frame and the engine.

Alot of a pipe needs to be determined before you buy one. Where do you ride? What other mods do you plan to do etc? The IDS2 comes with a header pipe and is a relative bargain at rockymountainatv.com

you MUST get a compete system (head pipe and silencer) if you have the money I would get the TC pipe its $350 its pretty loud but a very good pipe if not that get the IDS2 from rocky mountain for $240 with that a K&N filter and dyno jet kit it will make good bit more power...I'm happy with mine...

Good Luck with TC! My Raptor was to be finished at the end of Nov. and here its Jan and its still not finished I am getting a little bent out of shape I would of never of given TC my Raptor if I new it would take this long. AS to date all he did was put a silencer on it and he told me he still has to tune it in so regardless if its finished or not I am going to get my quad back as soon as I can get a hold of TC. I heard he does build awsome motors but someone shouldnt tell you one thing and then be over 1month late and still not finished!

I HAVE A 2000 300EX, NO ONE MENTIONED THE BEST PIPE FOR THIS. FMF PRO CORE IV -2SA IT IS A NEW PIPE ITS THE BEST FMF PIPE FOR THE 300, I ALSO RE-JETTED UP TO 128 AND PUT IN A K&N AIR FILTER (I USED K&N JET KIT) GO ONTO FMF WEB SITE I WOULD E-MAIL THEM WITH QUES. THEY WERE A GREAT HELP. DO NOT PUT THAT PIPE ON WITHOUT MODS TO YOUR CARB. NOT MANY PLACES CARRY THAT PIPE SO IF YOU NEED SOME NUMBERS E-MAIL ME. AS FAR AS WHAT THIS WORK DID FOR THE 300EX, MY BROTHER IN LAW HAS A 2000 WARRIOR, HE SMOKED ME IN A FLAT OUT DRAG RACE, WITH THE MODS DONE I HAD HIM THREW THIRD AND FOURTH GEAR AND WE WERE NECK AND NECK AT THE END. IT MADE A BIG IMPROVEMENT IN SPEED AND POWER. IF YOU GO WITH THE FMF PRO CORE ORDER A LITTLE HEAT SHIELD FOR IT (I HAVE A PLACE WERE I GOT MINE ) YOUR RIGHT LEG WILL GET HOT. GOOD LUCK
