Raptors and Race Gas

I can't take it anymore. I dropped it off at State 8, the dealership where Tim Farr gets his stock 450Rs, to have them do an exhaust gas analysis. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a better understanding of where the carbs should be and get it dialed in right. At the least, I'll have a dyno chart of how much horsepower I'm making.

well, the quad is running much smoother now. a tech at the dealership tuned my fuel mixture screws based upon their exhaust gas readings. the quad runs great now. it's good to know I was close. a well-spent $35.

In the future as you're fiddling with part throttle carburetion, remember that your main jets affect wide open throttle. Idle mixture screws are the first in line, then your low speed or idle jets at like 1/8 throttle, then from there through mid throttle is your needle position and taper. Your mains come into play way past all that stuff at WOT. You can change main jets all you want with a stumble at part throttle and never solve it.
