Default ATV won't start???

First off, I am new to this forum. I picked up a Vento Avalanche 100 for practically nothing. It wouldn't start so I took the carb apart, drained the fuel, changed the plug, and replaced the battery. When I took the carb apart, there was a little water in it. I soaked the carb in cleaner solution and reinstalled. I can get it to start if I spray with starter fluid but it will not keep running. It dies. Am I missing something? There is an "actuator" type thing (electronic) attached to the carb. It looks like it allows fuel in? When I start it, it just keeps cranking but no ignition. I pull the plug and it's pretty wet so I think gas is getting to the cyclinder.

I am stumped.

John....

It is probably going to take more than soaking the carb to get things going. Try removing the jets and cleaning them and all the passage ways with carb cleaner and compressed air. If the plug looks wet go ahead a replace it. Stop using starting fluid before you lock your engine up. If you are that desperate put some gas in a spray bottle. Starting fluid does not lubricate the cylinder like gas and will only cause damage. If you can open the drain screw on the float bowl and gas runs out it is getting gas past the "electronic thing". Hope this helps.
