exuasts for a 300ex
#1
I have a 2000 300ex and i want to trick it out. First off which pipe is best? I've been looking at the FMF for the 300ex. Also the white bros. and supertrapp. I just want more power. Sound doesn't matter.

Sweet...a 2000 300EX. I have a '98 300EX and have done the following motor mods with good results. White bros. pro-meg pipe w/ stainless head pipe, #128 main jet, K&N w/ outwearers along with a moto force air box lid. While all this may only give me 2-3 horsepower, the way the quad rides is incredible. The power "felt" stronger and lasted higher in the revs. Plus my buddy's stocker can no longer keep up with me...on the trail and blasting across the lakebed. Still ... I want more power so eventually I'll do the 11:1 piston along with a mid-range cam, but for now this combo works great and is very reliable which keeps me happy! I personally don't think there is going to be that much difference powerwise between the supertrapp, fmf, or white bros.. The reason I went with the white bros. is because I liked the construction along with the looks of stainless steel (the supertrapp head pipe is regular steel and doesn't resist corrosion as well) Good luck

Hey fellas, I bought my 300EX with a DG SuperTrapp already installed. Trailshooter you are right about the corrosion. That is on my list of offseason maintenance already. I talked with you before and read that you had jetted to #128. Like I said, I had the DG exhaust to go along with a K&N filter and it was running fine. I didn't know if the jetting had been changed. When I modified the airbox cover to add some breather holes I really leaned it out and found that the jet size was 128. I needed to get up to 140 before the mixture was right. Is this different from bike to bike even if they are the same machine? Do you have the airbox mods. also?

What I suggest is a FMF Megamax 2,(If sound is no matter), K&N air filter and jet kit, Race Cam, High compression piston, and a Renthal extra tooth sprocket. Now you can also take the top end of a 350X and put that on. You can do some really serius stuff with that like boring it to a 396.

If sound is no object????? well, i've got a 98' 300ex and i have a DG kromelite on mine with no spark arrester. It sounds soooooooo sweet!!!! like a truck w/ glasspacks (loud!!!!) it gave it a lot of power all the way round.i've got the pipe ,k&n filter w/ lid removed, dyno jets, and 14t sprocket and it'll pull wheelies in all gears and still go 63mph.

A few years ago Dirt Wheels did a shootout using a bone-stock 300EX and a bunch of different exhaust systems. They put the bike on the dyno with each different system. The Powroll pipe was the overall winner by a tiny amount. Supertrapp and White Brothers were right behind it. Price-wise, the Powroll system is cheaper.
Don't expect a bunch from just a pipe. Maybe 10% increase at the most. Unfortunately, it's not like a two-stroke, where you can gain more than 25% from a pipe!
