99 Banshee jetting troulbles
#1
I own a 99 Banshee and no matter what I do it is always too lean. I have 300 main jets in it, 35 pilot jets, the clip is in the stock position, whether it is 75 degrees or 95 degrees it is always too lean. I feel that the 300 jets are too big, so what does anyone think the problem could be? Please help.
MODS: FMF top end pipes, turbine core 2 silencers, pro design cool head, 22cc domes, K & N air filter with pro flow, mix oil 32:1 with belray synthetic oil, and run 94 octane fuel.

Why do you say it's too lean, white plugs? are they the right heat range? I don't have a banshee, but a blaster uses very similiar carbs to a similiarly sized cylinder(both use 26mm mikuni's and the banshee cylinders are smaller). So, 300 jets could be correct(use 230 in blaster), but they sound rich. Do you have an intake air leak leaning out the mixture? Everything sounds like it should be rich, based on your mods. Could your timing have become advanced somehow? Just questions to possibly make you think about something you missed. I don't know of any specific problem and obviousley can't see the bike, so I hope this helped. Maybe someone here has specific expierence with the problem.
P.S. Are the jets getting enough fuel in the carb ( they aren't clogged and the float level is set right. The fuel lines and petcock allow enough fuel to the carbs and the fuel tank vent functions. NO other fuel vent lines are clogged .)

I forgot to mention I also have a white brothers boost bottle!
Yes the plugs are white wide open, but the compression is still 160 in both cylinders
haven't melted the pistons yet!
I was told the 260's 270's and 280's are the highest I should need until winter!
Yes I also think there must be an air leak somewhere too, I'll have to check on that tomorrow, and get back to you thanks

Duneman-
I've got a Banshee and a Blaster and both of them have had air leaks in the past. The carb cap setup is prone to leaking. I fixed this by using teflon tape on the threads, but be sure that you don't get any into the slide area.
