Default Intake tube options for a Mojave

I am trying to gather some opinions for what would be a good choice to use as an intake tube on a Mojave I am working on. I am told it is better to have something in between the carb and air filter to help with Mid-range (I think that was the explanation.) The stock box isn't really an option with the 300ex carb I am using plus I hear it robs power as well. One suggestion for a tube was to find a Radiator hose that will accomodate the bends and diameters needed but that can take some time sifting thru radiator hoses at a parts shop. Since you guys generally live and breath this stuff (especially you Rols ! LOL) I thought I would see what your thoughts were. Thanks for any info you can provide.
