98 BLASTER HAS MODS**LOOKING TO MAKE ADDITIONAL MODS**
#1
Hi I recently purchased a 98 Blaster which is in great condition and got it for a very good deal. It has 240 kit on it i am not sure from who. It also has khelin carb I believe 35mm, k&n intacke, oil block off kit, fatty pipe with silencer. I must say the bike is pretty quick. I acutally go riding once a month if that, and yes i have been told if i want a faster bike go with a bigger bike, but i must say for the money i bought it for and i know they are not expensive to work on it is worth it for me. With that said i saw some post on the internet saying the were blaster bored to 265 even 280. I can tseem to find any kits like that. They were also saying how with the 265 kit they were keeping up with banshee.. I wouldnt mind being the guy pulling up with a blaster and giving the bigger bikes a run for there money. Basically I am lookign a an experience person on 2-strokes/ blaster/ yamaha to tell me how to get this done, If it can even get done. My next question is what is the maintenece with having a big bire kit?( How often do you need to rebuild it such as pistons rings etc...) Again I really want to make this little bike a big beast and yes i am sure some of you may be laughing but that is ok, If so you need not to reply! Please understand I am the type of person that likes to work on projects, taking things apart and making it better. I could go out a get a brand new bike but to me that isnt fun to me I am very mechanical. All you do in ride it and put it away. I prefer working on the bike and little by little making mods to it. Just like getting an old beat car and turning it into a hot rod. I put a ohlins shock in the rear which needed mod to the chassis and mounts, bikes rides like a charm. Bought the shock for 250 and is worth 725 not a bad deal. It also has extended swingarm+4 and +2axle. I put on 20 tires adn converted hub pattern to 4/115 in rear for ground clearnce and 21 in front.(The terrain could get really rough where i ride in PA too bad they just shut down, it was a great place)
So again if anyone could help it will greatly be appreciated. Please let me know if anyone has heard or even knows who carries a 265 kit or is it custom. Also give me your feedback, I am sure with the info i provided you with, you can now paint a picture of what i am working with
Thank you for reading my post

there is no 265 kit.its a +6mm stroked 240.every mm of stroke will add 3.5 cc`s of displacement on a blaster. 6x3.5+240=261cc`s.they are not reliable at all and i do not reccomend doing it.yes they are fast as hell...i`ve seen even higher displaced blasters than that but they are running a custom cylinder and head and i do not know where they are coming from.but one i do believe is just under 300cc`s.i`m wanting to say it was a 296cc setup?it too is prone to eat cranks because the bottom end on a blaster motor isn`t really designed to take that much power...even when its beefed up.
if you go with a +6 stroker crank the inside of you engine cases have to be machined so it will rotate without obstruction.
i love blasters because the are cheap too....but if you want real power with reliability then your gonna have to step up to a larger quad.there is no way around it.

If you are going to stay with the blaster I would look into bumping up your compression by milling the head and I would look into advancing your timing. Get with your local speed shop and see how high you can go on the compression with what gas you want to run. the timing will help on peak RPM also I would play with the gearing sounds like you have most things covered except the stroker and the bigger boar just keep in mind the more you pump it up the less reliable it get's.
Good luck with your build
P.S I seen a guy at gordons wells dunes running a older air cooled YZ 465 motor in his blaster and he was killing most people and the motor looks very close to the blaster it was freaking out guys with pumped up bikes with twice the displacement
