Don't use true "aviation fuel", it contains antifreeze, and other agents for high altitude-cold weather use. It's also formulated to burn at about 2200 rpm, which is what most small aircraft run. Use only hi-octane race gas, or you'll end up with a very lean condition. I use Unocal 110 octane, which is $4.75 per gallon.

I use aviation fuel but you have to put in a thing called lead substiture, you can get it at a local automotive shop about 4.00 and will treat a ton of fuel. I pay 2.30cents for my gas a gallon. You have to put the lead substitute in or it will hurt your engine like the guy said on the post before mine. He is also right about lean. YOu will most likely have to go to a higher jet size i did and this all works perfect.

av gas is low lead and it does not need any additive and 100 av gas is 109 octane the way auto gas is rated so you can cut it some with unleaded hitest to get it down to 100 octane. i have used av gas for years in bikes, quads and racecars. LL stands for low lead.

I wouldn't use aviation fuel, because it's meant for lower reving plane engines and it is also very dry. Jetting is more touchy with it also. Personally I use 114 octane race gase in my 330R. It's kinda pricey at $3.75 a gallon, but when I ride trails I mix 50/50 with 92-94 octane fuel, which makes it cheaper and still has enough octane for the compression I run.

A lot of people call hi-octane low lead fuel "Av-gas", We have a station in town here that sells low lead 100 octane fuel, and depending on which lady is working the register, it gets called either Av-gas or 100 octane low lead. As long as you're not buying it directly from the airport, and you trust the people selling it, you should be all right. True av-gas smells like crap when it burns in a two-stroke, and hi-octane fuel has a sweet smell to it. So be careful.
