Raptor Stage 2 Cam
#1
I've got a stage 1 cam in my Raptor 660 right now and I want to upgrade to a stage 2. I've got 2 different opinions for 2 very reputable sources about installing this cam:
1 - Install the Hot Cams springs. One or more of the valve guides need to be trimmed down or the vavle seal(s) will be smashed over time. Price i was quoted was $30 to do the work.
2 - Install the Hot Cams springs and you're good to go.
Has anyone installed the stage 2 cam in your Raptor? Did you have to do any work other than the new springs? Any problems if you didn't?

The guide that needs trimmed is the middle intake. It sits a little higher in the head than the others and therefore gets the most lift from the rocker. I cant remember the amount of trimming hotcam recommends but its not much. It can be done at home with non-special tools as long as you can get the valve out by yourself. Also if you go to a stiffer spring kit you can expect accelerated rocker arm pad wear, but it's not to big of a problem.
