a while back i looked in a dirt wheels mag and saw what looked like a super modifyed banshe. the article said it hade a nitrous kit on it. now i know what it is and that it works best at a high engine rpm but does it put any extra stress on the engine, and does it create a lot of extra heat, just wodering.

nos burns cold. if you dont over rev it you should be fine. its hard on the bottom end if you hit it at low rpm. its good if you want to drag race. you cant run it all the time, if you did it would cost you $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Nitrous will be very tricky to jet up properly on a twin carb setup. Nitrous adds an extreme amount of cyliner pressure! If your engine is at about 180 psi of pressure, nitrous will make it wear out like a motor is 350 psi. You will have to replace the rods very oftern. There will be an extreme amount of extra heat also. Any time you increase the amount of fuel and cylinder pressure, you increase the temp. The nitrous kit will require a bottle that must be filled before every race, a fuel pump, 2 solenoids (one for nitrous one for additional gas), redesigned intake boots, additional line plumbing, a battery to operate, a trigger switch, adjustable timing, preferably dished or flat top pistons, headwork to lower compression, pipes and portwork so your powerband comes on with the nitrous. Your power gain, if you keep it mild so your motor will stay together, will be about 25-30 horse. This gain can almost be achieved with alcohol without the added weight and cheaper. Check out FTZ's Alcohol banshee carbs at FTZracing.com.

The NOS is awesome power adder, timeing also plays apart of it. Stock timing should be ok as long as you run high octane 93 up. As far as the price of NOS goes its about $3.50 a pound around this area. Installation it should not be to tuff, try putting 8 on a super street car. HA HA
NOS bottle should last about 60 to 70 seconds on a 2#bottle @ 25 to 30 HP. Most important make sure there is no restriction in the fuel system. Should flow about 5.5 to 6 lb of fuel at the nos jet. Just my 2 cents.

Check out sandsports magazine back issues. Had an article about a NOS kit a couple of years back.
