Ok... I'm getting ready to sink some money into a 99 TRX400EX. I'm wanting to port and polish the head, install a new cam, valve work, and a forged piston. I'm looking for a reputable engine builder that has plenty of 4-stroke experience. I've had a less than satisfactory experience with F.S.T. before and I won't be going back (different quad). Has anyone done these mods yet and willing to share their experiences with their engine builder? I'm looking for price, what parts are included, turn-around time, and quality of work performed. I'm planning on checking with CT Racing, LRD, TC Racing, and possibly others. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Check out CT's website. WWW.CTRACING.com they have a whole section for the 400EX. I know they do excellent work on two strokes.

Curtis Sparks does alot of 4 stroke work. He does most of the pro class 4 stroke racers.

Well I've gone to CT's web site and I've called Tom at TC Racing. Now that I have that input I'm waiting to get some info on LRD. I really like the price of his pipe and I know his work must be fine. I just want some outside opinions and suggestions. Anyone?

I am buying a kit from Tom at TC racing. If you want to wait a week, I can let you know how well it works out on my 00' 300EX.
Here's the setup I'm doing:
TC piston
TC cam
TC valve springs
TC CDI box
WhiteBothers E-series pipe
WB head pipe
WB power-filter
WB 14 tooth front sprocket
re-jet

I will not horse you around either. If the kit is good. I will tell you.
If it's bad, I will really tell you.

later

So What did you think of TC's work? I am looking at them for a new pipe for my 400ex. I talked to a shop that sells both LRD(my other choice) and TC and he said the TC is better.

Curtis Sparks, TC racing in that order. Both are really close but I give teh edge too curtis. TC is probably cheaper though. Both companies build excellent engines. I have never seen a LRD fourstroke and I suspect that they are new comers to the feild. If your not in a highly competitive pro class, then you will probably be just as happy with TC for less money and time.

Its CT guys....anyway one of our club members just had them do a 440 kit on his, hes done alot of chassi work also. I was very impressed when he blew a DS 650 away last week end, that bike is fast. I took a little spin on it myself and one lap was enough for me
