Great answer NW -- unfortunately, the technology of the Torque stuffer isn't up to it :-)

Basically, it's just a "reducer" installed (with best results in the Warrior, since it has a pretty big head pipe to begin with) at the beginning of the pipe.

It seems to work relatively well for those riders who use their quads in muddy, tight trails and run big & heavy tires.

On the dyno, these things haven't shown me any gains -- anywhere. On the trail, I felt a little better throttle response right off idle. You'd probably have better luck getting through the gooey stuff with the Stuffer installed if you run between 1,000 - 3,000 RPM in the lower gears most of the time.

If the head has been ported, and you're running a cam -- all bets are off! I wouldn't recommend the Torque Stuffer, as you may end up with some overheating problems, plus a real frustating time trying to get the jetting right!

Thanks for the input. A reducer just won't do. I think you have hit the nail on the head. Dyno sheets are one thing - the seat of your pants is where you know if you got your money's worth. I understand you folks there at Powroll do great work!

If you're going to add a torque stuffer to your aftermarket exaust, you might as well put your stock exaust back-on. You bought aftermarket systems to reduce back pressure, and thats why you have to rejet. You are keeping the ratios equal but moving up the ladder for higher air volume

Actually, a stuffer used in conjunction with a better pipe is MUCH better than a stock pipe/no stuffer.
When a stuffer is placed in/near the exhaust manifold, the burnt gases coming from the cylinder have to go through a smaller opening. This causes the gas to speed up, which in turn causes higher density, which in turn again causes higher temps - in the pipe. At higher temps sound travels faster (very important in 2 strokes), and the gas flow is extremely better. So, because of the fact that the gas is forced through a smaller opening, the flow rate can be greater than it was before. BUT, this is only good up to a certain rpm because there is a threshold here.
Now, once the gases travel past the stuffer, the only concern is getting them the h3ll out. That's where a better flowing pipe comes into play. Cooler gases are much harder to flow than hot so the pipe has a huge role. You must have a good flowing pipe for the stuffer to work properly.
If you used the stock pipe, the difference would be that the high speed exhaust flow at the exhaust manifold really would not exist because the silencer/muffler would be the bottleneck. In this case the gases at the manifold would really be crawling along, rapidly cooling - robbing horses.
Remember I said that this is only better up to a certain rpm. Typically, the horsepower curve is brought to the left, narrowed & lowered a little. What this means is that if you had a bike witha top 40hp at 6500rpms & 30hp at 4000rpms - add a stuffer and you would end up with something like tops - 37hp at 6500rpms and 34hp at 4000rpms. Different stokes for different folks. There are apps that justify doing such a thing.
And remember, you are adding heat to the pipe - that's a great thing - just don't run lean enough so that temps go beyond 1200deg. Make sure to jet the thing when any mod is done. The piston may see a little more heat but since you will be running at slightly lower rpms, it should be fine.
