nice looking quad...i just picked up a 2001 400ex with a 2002 xr650l motor in it and 450r plastic. the machine does not run. the guy that i bought it from claims the top end was rebuilt this summer and all it needs are the valves adjusted. any suggestions?

 

I am hoping for your help. I recently acquired a 99' 400ex w/ a 96 XR 600 motor. The main problem is that I have no exhaust. What did you use/do for an exhaust??? I'm working with LTE right now on a dual exhaust kit for it. I would like to try and keep cost down though. Thanks for your time, Art M.

 

Adjusting the valves are the same as in a 400ex motor, just bigger. like everything on the xr650l motor its nearly identical to a 400ex, as far as details, i have been on it at 120mph+ or - 3 . I was beside a gsxr 600 who wasnt pulling me all that bad till we hit 100. Its really too much for me it never has traction, i plan on using a complete fuel injection system from a trx700ex and a ko3 turbo from a vw jetta one day.
