I am looking at a 86 trx 250r it is a project machine and needs to be put back together. Well any how i called him and he said it has a ATC motor in it. i was wondering if it is the same or will it be a cobbled together mess?!?! please help!!!

 

If it is an 86 ATC motor it will bolt in the same as the TRX.

I believe the only real difference among many small differences is that Honda added an additional clutch plate to support the additonal weight of the machine... The frame probably wasn't modified.

Dont forget the kick start on the 3 wheeler is backwards kick from the 4 wheeler. I dont know if this will cause a problem.

 

what do u mean? is it a rear kick? like a yammie?

 

The 85-86 ATC250R had a foward kickstarter just like the trx motors. They fit fine in the trx chassis. I have one in my 88 250r.

 

I thought the TRX's were rear kick start, and the ATC's were forward kick. I own an atc thats forward kick. I was told by someone that his TRX was rear kick. Must be wrong, sorry to mis-inform.

 

Dominator you may have the LT 250r in mind. It had a backwards kickstarter.

 

What about an 82 atc 250R engine. Will it fit in a trx 250R.
