Hey guys, back again.
So here the delema.. After finding my son's 250x smoked. I figured to do some research and see what I could do for a replacement eng. Well CL came thru. Purchased the same 87 250 eng for $150. Not bad. (I think)
Anyway, Now that the two engines are on the bench side by side. there is only on difference.
Coming out of the left side of the case housing on the old eng. It has two plug in wires and one small two prong connector. (green and white wire)

Where as the replacement eng only has two single plug in's.

Does anyone know what that two prong connector is/controls?
