400EX plastic on a 250X

I did it to my old 250X, you MUST REALLY dent in the top rear of the X tank, bent the front stock brackets up to work, cut the plastic by the kicker, the rear is TOO long and must be cut where it meets the front, you also must use a 400ex seat, it's not fun or easy, I made brackets for the rear.

400EX plastic on a 250X
i have a 1988 250x and im doing the samr thing to mine. i also had to cut a small piece where the kick start is so the muffler wouldnt burn a hole in it. what ever you do dont put dents in your stock 250x gas tank. buy a 400ex tank and with some minor mods you can make it sit and fit . to make the front fenders sit, you have to bend the front mounting brackets up a little to hold the nose of the fenders. the front brackets have a rubber piece on them, and you'll have to cut them out. then drill a 3/8 inch hole and use a 3 to 4 inch long bolt and 3/8 of an inch thick.hold the bolt in place with a nut. place another one about 1 inch into the bolt, use a washer, then slip it into the hole of the bracket, place anothe r bolt and tighten it down. that should take care of the front. for the flaps tat go around the gas tank you might want to use a 400ex tank. i did to mine and it looks very cherry. i also put some 2.5 inch wheel extenders witch made it an extra 5 inches wider. but for the fenders its no problem. if you are creative you can do just about anything to that 205x.
if you decide not to use the fenders or the seat let me know. i could really use the seat!!!
