Did you clean the power valve? Is it timed right?

If not, then these things need to be checked before you do any jetting changes.

I just put a new piston, pipe, and bigger carb on it. It was running pretty good with the stock carb and other pipe. It is now fouling plugs and smoking at idle. It runs good from 1/2 throttle up which is why I think the pilot jet is too big. Like I said it is a 68 so I think I am going to try a 58.

How much larger is the new carburetor? Was it jetted for the Tecate?

If the carb is more than 3 - 4mm larger than the stock carb, you may need to do some porting and shave the head in order to get good throttle response. You need to have good intake velocity to make an engine behave well right off idle.

Jetting correctly may help somewhat, but if jetting doesn't seem to have much effect on the situation, then you're going to have to look into what you'll need to make everything work well together.

The carb is a 35 mm (stock is 34 mm). The guy at Trinity Racing said he could jet it pretty close to what I will need (I told him what the bike had on it). I will try the new pilot jet and hopefully it takes care of the problem. Thanks for the info.
