raptor motor on 250r frame
#1
Hey I found a raptor motor with electricals and everything to make it run, and a 250r frame with everything i need to roll and then some, would it be hard to make this work? other than motor mounts? Could I use the 250r radiator? or the raptor one? or would it even matter?

My answer is because we want to. and my friend wants a bad *** quad without quite as much money tossed into it, there are problems with the transmissions the first 6000 raptors had weak gears, mine has no problems, I had the starter replaced, carb air screws adjusted, and it was just fine, I know the motor will fit, I'm talking about the raddiator and things like that, My dad will build that pricey custom exhaust, and it wont really be precey, what makes you think it will be so expencive?

I would rule man!!!! biggest 4stroke ever in the best frame ever =D But you could look up dirbikes/dualies engines... think! KLR 650, XR650, XR600, YZ426F..... they would be cheaper and maybe better... the raptor is good but on a honda frame I would stick with honda motor(just my opinion)
BTW: I would check the vin # of that Raptor motor... these things just came out..... I seriously doubt that owners are parting them out already......

Sounds like you've found out the why's behind some of the Raptor's geometry problems - the engine's physically too large which causes some design compromises to have to be made to the chassis.
Why not find a CR250 engine to drop in there? They're cheap and plentiful - then just fabricate some motormounts to absorb some of the vibration...

the only place where i can see u finding a CRF engine is at that honda site that sells replacement parts for hondas... i think its www.planethonda.com but i'm not sure... it won't be cheap either. if you do pull it off you'll have the sweetest quad around! oh and about the CR is would be fast but it doesn't have a counterbalancer. you'd break your frame trust me i know cuz my LT didn't have a counter balancer and the frame broke in 2 different places under the seat.

Since I heard about the CR450 coming out,,I dreamed of that exact swap. Thought if honda can't make it I will make it myself. And then build them and sell them for anyone. But
1. it would be expensive for the motor
2. it would be expensive for the fabrication
3. it would take some time
4. i'm still in college (about to graduate) and am broke
But that would be one bad *** quad.
