370 banshee
#1
I have a 2000 banshee that i recently redid, I installed lonestar +2 a arms and works tripple rate shocks along with a round housing swing arm and a +2 axle, as far as motor mods i have paul tuner mids with fat boy silencers cool head with 21cc domes delta v force reeds torrs eliminator kit and a pro design pro flow kit. THis thing flies for what i have done to it, I took it to silver lake last weekend and beat everyone there except a threewheiler with a 4 cylnder crotch rocket engine in it and he didn't even beat me by a full length. Granted it wasn't a nice machine and I am sure that with more competition there that day I would have been beat. But anyway it isn't fast enough for me, Loren Duncan who i got lots of info from, want's me to get his national kit (wich I already have most of the parts) except carbs porting and intake. I was also thinking of a 370 long rod but there isn't much info out there on them and thats what I am after, prices, reliability, Good diagrams on how it helps and what it takes to build one, also once you go ahead with it what sort of mods will it hinder you from doing in the future, Like does it interfere with certain porting or boring, does it need head mods or special pistons? Anyway if anyone has good reliable info on a 370 or the national kit maybe even some other mods I never thought of. But my main goal for this machine is moto x, dunes, and open trails.

a 370 is basically this. your crank has to have rd 400 rods put on. the rod is 5 mm longer than the stoke banshee rod. the cylinders have to be bored to 80 over and you have to use a std bore blaster piston. the power of the engine is kinda like have moto x porting done. the power is not lights on, lights off. the band is kinda lazy, best way to describe it is that it acts like a 4 stroke power band. smooth power through out the band. any more questions, you can give me a yell at 877-278-2017.

I have a CT 370 Long ROd in my banshee. I have hat for about three years now. I all have done is keep a fresh top end it and it keeps rolling. I keep the stock carbs on it. I have v-force reeds and LRD adjustable pipes. Bottom line....it is fast. If the thing would just handle it would be sweet. I do not belive I would say it is like a 4 stroke powerband. It is still pipey and has to be clutched out of corners a bit. But it is a little easier to handle as far as the hit of power. The power is a little mellower than a stock motor. A big plus was going from FMF pipes and stock reeds and cages to the LRD and v-force. Throttle respose is greatly improved. I have only dealt with CT and LRD as far as motors. They are about the only ones I would trust. I think LRD's version is a 380. Either company is great and stand behind their work 100%.

The 370lr "can" be a very potent motor... Brian @ allpro describes the power curve as being "lazy"... The only way a 370 will have whats called a "lazy" power spread is if someone doesnt have a clue what they are doing.. in which they shouldnt be in the porting business. When building a 370lr you must take your cyls out to .080 over and use blaster pistons with the RD400 rods or you can use pistons made by trinity that has the pin height relocated. With the trinity pistons you can run your stock bore w/ long rods and get the best of both worlds w/o ruining a good set of cyls. With a longrod motor you can use a much more aggressive porting layout than a reg rod motor... and still have a very usable power spread. I personally wouldnt take a perfectly good set of cyls all the way out to .080 over on a brand new bike. Where do you want most of your power? Mid or Mid-Top? I would find a motor builder and stick w/ what they advise... Stay away from those that rant about giving you 60-70+ hp on one of their level 3 or 4 port jobs... If you want a bike thats ridable then find a motor builder that will build you a motor the way YOU want it... Having a 70hp peaky motor is NOT fun to ride... Lightswitch power will only spin the tires... and thats not what you need when riding a trail or a track.
I've had a 370lr motor for over 5 years now... I am very pleased with it.. but I just built a 350cc sand motor that I actually enjoy MUCH more... If I was you I would just have your cyls ported for now and you can always go bigger later... just remember... light switch power is NOT what you need.
