Porting: the best engine builders
#1
I have discovered a person that does awesome porting on all two-strokes. I believe he is one of the best and he offers his services at an excellent price and he does the work quickly. The name is MEK Racing Engines. phone #(814)432-2916. Or you can email me at blaster668@hotmail.com and I'll pass the message on. I rode one of his ported Blasters and it was just as fast as my 240 from CT.

Yes I recommend Merle Cope at MEK Racing, I just got my Banshee stage 2 ported. I got it back together. It's awesome, it'll raise the front tires in fifth gear with no clutch! Turn around was super fast, not even two weeks. The price was excellent, for porting and a set of pro X pistons and honing of the bores. Once I got the jets adjusted it ripped! I've been able to outrun everything around.

I can't quote a price but I will almost guarantee that it'll be cheaper than any "good" company you find.
His Stage four absoulutely rips, that's what he's doing on one of my cylinders now. He spends a lot of time and detail doing that port work because it involves adding additional ports on the Blaster cylinders. Call him for the prices though.

Just a general statement here:
Stages, Levels, Specs, Ultra-whatever, etc, etc, etc, are just used to market packages of engine alterations. It doesnt necessarily denote the maximum that can be done to an engine. It provides the customer a means to reference that particular engine builders packages against the other. Keep in mind that Builder X's Level 4 may differ significantly from Builder Y's Stage 4, therefore it's important to be an informed consumer.
Question whomever does your engine work exactly what they are doing to your cylinder. Remember that YOU are the one paying the money out and doing THEM a service by bringing your business to them, and you ARE entitled to know whats going on.
If they wont take the time to explain that they are going to for instance: rechamber and reconfigure the head, reshape and reaim the transfer ports, widen and raise the exhaust port, etc. Additionally then YOU as the consumer have the responsibility to have educated and informed yourself prior to understand what all that is about, or at least the rough overview of what a transfer port is, not necessarily get into, well if you reaim it 5 degrees fwd and recut the duration to 132* open, wouldnt that then create....no that much, just understand the basics.
