Whats the deal with the Havoline (I think thats who makes it) coolant that's orange? Is it better for the cooling system than the green stuff? Would you have to have the system flushed before adding it?

I forget what it actually called, but I beileve it is specifically designed for older modle GM/Chevy's. "Dexotrol" maybe? I dont know if it is necessisarily better, but I probably wouldn't put it in my FX400 if I had one.

I run Redline Waterweter mixed with distilled water. If you are interested you should be able to pick it up at a good local auto shop, it has mixing directios on the back.

I know Prestone makes orange coolant. The orange coolant is phosphorus free. Phosphorus tends to eat away at the insides of some radiators over time. Phosphorus is also very toxic and bad for the environment.

Finaly found that bottle of stuff. I had seen it out in the shed a long time ago and couldnt find it. Any way it is Havoline and made for GM autos (although it says on the back for Ford, Chevy ect.) It says its made for all autos. You were close AZ400L, its called Dex-Cool. It is Silica and Phosphate free. Thanks guys for the help. I dont guess I will be putting it in the C-Dale. It also says that it extends water pump life. Now if I can just figure out how it got in the shed!

That orange coolant came in my GMC Sonoma and I was told that if your car has the orange use orange and if it has green then use green, but not to mix. I saw the clear hoses and dye advertised by Team Alba, but it is kind of expensive. What kind of hoses are you using?

Thanks for the info.Kadafiy, I'm using the stock black hoses, but interested in the clear ones and some blue dye,if they make it,if the price isnt insane.

Team Alba has the hoses for $99.99 but it doesn't say anything about the price of dye. I was going to get some clear hosing from a guy on ebay but I found out that it was washing machine hoses and was junk. I couldn't find anyone besides Team Alba that had it. Even places like Summit Racing and other car places didn't carry it. I'm not willing to pay $100 for it from Team Alba so I dropped the idea.
