Has anyone or know anyone who has put a Quadzilla motor into a 250R Quadracer frame? I don't believe their is an enormous list of mods you have to do but I would just like to know how hard it might be before I start.
Thanks.

It really shouldn't be that bad.. Motor mounts may differ, but the swingarm bolt goes thru the back of both engines, so that would be common (Provided that the 500 isn't wider or something)
I just finished putting a 500cc Twin snowmobile engine in a LT250 chassis... She'll Run!

If you get fed up... I'd be interested in buying that 500 motor from ya!

Why you would want to go through the trouble of putting the 500 engine into the 250R frame. The frames are basically the same i dont know why you want to do the swap.

casey, the LT500 to LT250 swap is age old proven. I'm not sure on what the advantages to the 250 frame are other than weight.

I put an 89 RM engine in my 86 racer... It would have probably bolted up if I had of used the stronger, better designed 87 frame...

The reason I want to do the swap is because I have the complete LT250R and only have a LT500R motor... I don't want to buy all of the 500's frame, suspension, etc...

Yeah it will work and won't look sick....I had one like it......The front mount's need a little changing and that should do it....Like cutting out piece's of the frame and welding in new tubing to fit the motor.....plus your going to have to heat the frame up where the bottom of the motor sit's on the frame to allow clearence....just heat it up and dent it in with a hammer....the bottom mount (below the motor on the frame) need.s to be moved....It's a lot of trial and error (putting the motor in and removing) It's sound's complicated but not really....It can be done..........Zilla

I just finished this mod. Heres what you have to do if you have a 1987+ lt250. If you want to be able to take the topend off without removing the engine, you have to cut the lower 250 motor mounts off and reweld them in the center of the tube. The pivot bolt fit right through. All new front and upper motor mount plates have to be made. The rear sprocket will have to be spaced out to line the chain up(lt500 motor is wider). The footpeg on the brake side has to be spaced and the brake lever has to be bent or reshaped to clear. CT makes a pipe but they are never in stock and it takes a while to get. If you have a 1987-90 the airbox is simple. If you have a 1991-2 HAVE FUN. I just rode mine for the first time this weekend. No doubt it hauls, but it is a fair amount of work unless you just butcher it. If you have a 1985-6 the frame tube in front of the motor has to be cut out of the frame. The 500 exhaust goes straight out and the 85-6 250`s dont. If you go to www.macdizzy.com , then go to "message board", then to "got snap shot" you will find a picture of my quad and all the mods.

Oh yeah the lower frame tube has to be cut out and a straight piece has to be welded in. I am not sure if heating and bending would be a good idea.
