I have 2002 Raptor and have been considering an 11:1 compression piston and cam, but I keep hearing that it will greatly effect the reliably of the engine. The Canondales come with a compression in the 12 range, so why would me going to an 11:1 hurt my reliability?? I want the performance but I don't want to have to tear the engine down every other year.

What is your oppinion on this?? Are we making HP or are we creating a time bomb??

You can't compare different engines like saying the Cannondale has 12.5:1 so my Raptor should be fine. Its all in the engine design. When you raise the compression you also raise the strain on the rod, rod bearings, crank and crank bearings so of they will wear out faster, how much faster no one will ever know.

Has anyone had a big bore kit in their Raptor for any length of time to get any kind of long term confidence in the engine??
