hello. well here we go again.... i don't understand what the problem is... ever since i put reeds & pipe on the bike it runs good when it wants... listen to this.... two weeks ago i had the bike out and it ran like sh*t... (in the mid-range) it would brake up and have no power????? it was about 55° to 62° out that day..
yesterday.. i came home from work early to work on it temp was about 66°- 72° well i did what i had to do so... i pulled it out and started it let it warm up and man it was running great... i was in 2nd gear at about 1/2 throtle and hit it front end was comming right up??? (i was in the middle of the gear) all the power was there? like it should be.. i dont understand.. i think the bike is possessed and self healing well let me know what you guy's think?? thanks |
greenbud,
Stating you have reads means it's a 2 stroke. Rule of thumb: Every 15 degrees or 1500 feet of elevation change requires a jetting change. Be very carefull, it is very easy to burn a hole in the top of the piston. Putting a pipe on should have made you re-jet any way. If this is a blaster bump the main 2 sizes up and lower the C-clip 1 notch on the needle. Also mod the air box cover. |
hey gaff, whats up my friend?? this one's mine
it's an lt250r 1992 it has an fmf fatty and v-force reeds.. the pipe. i went to the web site and it tells me to use stock jets.. and the reeds it tells me not to jet unless it's needs it (it may need it).. i'm getting real sick of this bike but..... every time i ride it (when it's running right) i can't get off it.. call me a softy but i love this bike.. but on the same token i hate the mother f**ker.. i just want it to run good thats all nothing more.. and as far as elevation most of the places i ride are about the same.. and god no!!! it's not a blaster |
Maybe you have smoked too many doobies?
|
its very possable but it still doesn't tell me whats wrong with the bike... hey maybe if i smoke alot maybe the bike will just talk to me and tell me the problem!!!!!!
|
nope, I've smoked truck fulls before none ever talked to me
Darn piss testing has screwwed me out of doing any further research thow It's in your jetting thow. You could just go with a dynojet jet kit for about $50 or buy some, wait, be rite back |
sorry, had to go look. They don't make the jet kits for those any more.
You should be able to buy a couple larger size mains for $4.50 a piece. Untill those come in just lower the C-clip on the needle one slot. This will run you a bit rich, but keep you on the safe side for now. Although you are having problems in the mid-range this is still the main jet giving you problems. If it was the needle being the big problem you would know rite after you let the clutch out, it would start cutting out on you at this point. There is a spot about at the middle or rite before the middle of the mid-range that the main starts coming in, this is probably were you are having the problems. Don't get blown away with elevation and that, just get the thing running good and that will be your set up. Keep a one size larger main handy, you will want this for winter. Once it cools off in the fall you just pop in a size larger main or the cutting out will happen again. Even stock off the show room floor needs a size larger main for the winter. The jet you have in there now may even be the rite one in 80 degree weather and you just need a winter (larger) jet in there now untill it warms up some. The poeple at FMF are good poeple, realy helpfull and know thier stuff. But remember they do all thier work in southern cal. and can only simmulate your climate, not actually be in it. I have FMF pipes on my sons XR's and they say no jetting for them either, but in every instance that particcullar machine I have to put 1 size larger pilots in. |
ok let me get this right.... by lowering the c-clip you mean raise the needle up?? but once i get a larger jet put the needle back where it was... i should be able to get some jets from a local shop. have you ever heard of hot-2-go racing??(htg) its in grand island n.y. look them up on the net.. hey thanks allot for all your info...
|
Yah you have it rite about the needle and to put it back when you get the main. Performance won't be at the best but it's better than doing a top end job.
I hierd of that I think, I'll check them out. |
could you post that site for me I can't find it.
