Stock banshee and stock 250r both are piped. Which would be the best paddle tire for the dunes. Straight or angled? Do straight paddles push in the corners?

Straight paddles do exactly what their name implies... they go straight... if you like duning and like sliding the rear end around get angled paddles... I like getting my rear end sideways and roosting everyone so I got the Sand Skate II's... I wouldn't suggest vulcanized paddles cause mine fell apart in a year. 100 bucks a tire every year seems too expensive for me so I went to the molded tires. I know most straight paddle are vulcanized so you really don't have much of a choice. Oh one other thing you can consider is if you like racing up hills and jumping you might want to get 8" rims and paddles. If you like turning more get the 10".

 

Good point about the Vulcanized paddles. They separate as soon as you ride over hard-packed or desert type terrain while enroute to your sand.

What do you recommend? How about a tire called "The Trakker." It is very inexpensive, is a v-paddle and non-vulcanized.

How about a wierd looking Cheng-Sin paddle called the "Nomad."

 

I recommend sand skate 11(8 in. rims) for all around duning they are excellent paddles, I have a set that have 7 years of duning on them and though they are getting a little worn they still have a few years in them. I found out the hard way on jumping with 10 in. douglas blue label rims with 20 in. haulers mounted on them, I destroyed both rims jumping a razorback and landing on a steep down slope in nothing but sand. The haulers are brand new and I'm hoping going to black labels will allow me to jump with these tires. Anyone have any experience jumping with 10 in. black labels let me know as I was hoping to put them on my overweight DS.

 

I have a set of Skate II's on 10 inch black labels. They handle very well. I ride only dunes with these tires and rims. I have caught 10 feet of air and landed on the back end more than level. Nothing happened. I don't see a need for running red labels in the dunes unless you sky 20+ feet. I might run blue labels on the front but I would rather spend the extra 10 bucks to get the black labels.

If you like jumping at all, get Red Label wheels up front atleast. I'd suggest them in the back also with 8" wheels. I know because I have thrashed many blue labels out there. Even red labels aren't indestructable, but it takes some serious air to beat them up.(though it can and has been done).

i bought some sand devil straight paddles last year. they aren't top of the line, but they do everything they are supposed to. you can get a set of these mounted on aluminum rims from rockymountainatv.com for around 160 dollars. hell of a deal.
