my borther just bought a 400ex he already has an atc250r and we would like to swap the motors. so has anyone out there put a 400ex motor in the atc and the atc/trx motor in the 400 frame. thanks

 

Sounds like a good idea to swap the 250R from an ATC to a 400EX frame. As far as TRX to EX, I hope no one has done that. The old TRX has a much better center of gravity due to the seat height v/s the EX. The EX does have more wheel travel but I don't think it's worth the extra ride height personally.

Swapping from an ATC to the EX would definatly give the 250 a better chassis though. Now thats a worthwile idea in my book especially if you like 2-stroke! You would have a faster and lighter EX if the engine is good, that's for sure!!!

Crate that 400 and let me know how it works!! Never hurts to try!!!

 

why take a $5000 or more bike apart?? The 250r frame was better designed
