Within the last year there's been an article in Dirt Wheels regarding a company in Puerto Rico that makes a turbo kit for the 400 EX and Raptor. The cost was around $4,000 and you could choose between intercooled, or non-intercooled. The dyno tests before and after were incredible. Horsepower doubled in both cases. If memory serves the 400 EX went from 32 ponies to around 67, and Raptor also doubled to around 70 or so. Don't quote me on the numbers, it's been a while since I read that one. Given some time I can probably find the article in my collection of mags. If you want me to look it up, email me and let me know.

Well Kobe:

It was bugging me, so I went and found the article in the May 2002 Dirt Wheels titled "Turbocharged Raptor & 400EX". Turbo Tech in Puerto Rico is the company and I mis-quoted the horsepower on the 400 EX. The correct horsepower changes were from 23.9 to 51.8 for the 400 EX, and get this, 34 stock horsepower on the Raptor to 70.2 after adding the intercooled turbo.

The article also states they had trouble keeping the front end on the ground in drags and on long straight sections, so they were considering adding +2 inch longer A-arms. They state the changes on the Raptor were the result of no engine changes and using only high octane gas, not racing gas.

You'd definitely be the talk-'o-the-town if you went this route!
