Scrambler 500 Mods
#1
I added k&n air filter and just purchased hpd agg. cluth kit, also plan to get hpd powermaxx exhaust on Scrambler 500 4x4. Anyone have any other proven suggestions to improve hp? Need to whoop scrambler 400(light mods), and warrior(light mods).

More compression, camshaft, and some port work will make the biggest bang. The stock 400's will be tough enough to run against, but one with any more than a pipe will be real tough to get with the 500. They just are so restricted in stock form mods really wake them up. Any motor mods will help that agressive kit work much better. Bubba

How about an airbox mod, bigger carb, and a jet kit. Even a 628cc big bore kit from Four Stroke Tech

Hey BigBad, just got my hpd clutch kit in today, will install when i get the new exhaust. How do you like the powermaxx exhaust? Do you know if it out performs the supertrapp ids2, im stuck in between those two, what do you think?

I have the exhaust installed already. Still working on the secondary clutch. Need to borrow a pair of snap ring pliers. I only briefly started it up with the new exhaust. From the little taste that I got, I really liked it. I wont know until spring how it performs. I was hoping to take it out a little but when I rejetted, my throttle cable on the carb broke off. It is back orderd by the dealer Also, I found a small leak in my radiator. I have to get those fixed before I can put it all back together and finish all of my maintance.I dont know about the Supertrapp. Some people that have it say that they like it. Personally, I trust HPD products. ALL they do is Polaris ATV's. They have a great fit and finish with the nickel plating.Yeah, it may be more expensive, but I think it is worth it. I ordered mine through Rick Ritter. He told me that it is a great pipe for the 500's.Not to mention, he has great shipping prices, $9 for the exhaust and clutch kit!!! Hope that helped. I would recomment it

Hey, if you have an extra $3000 sittin around, you can get an Aeorcharger turbo for thr scrammy 500. That would definately beat a 400

yeah, i think i will go with hpd, thats the first thing i thought as well, all they do is polaris, so they definite know what will get you the best performance on your polaris. And hey, if i had $3000 just lying around for a bike, then i would just buy a scram 400. But i dont feel like living on a four wheeler, cause the wife will definitely put me out...How much did you pay from rcr for the exhaust?

$305 for the exhaust. Rick sell all the HPD products at their price as well as his own products. However, his customer service is second to none and he is willing to help you out on any problem you may have. Everyone recommended Rick and I got my stuff through him and dont regret it. I think that you will be happy with the HPD exhaust. Give Rick a call and he will hook you up. Oh, BTW, when you go to rejet the carb, be VERY careful of you throttle adjuster cable, Mine was a little corroded and snapped off right at the end of the adjusting screw. That little SOB costs $55 and I cant ride until it comes in
