it just depends on how much money you want to spend. A k&n filter and adapter plate, and an exhaust or just a slip on will help a lot, without having to go into the motor. If you want to go into the motor, go to the yamaha forum and ask, you will get more info than you need. GOOD LUCK.........

If you bought the extended service plan with your Raptor, try to stay away from getting in your motor. Jet kits and exhaust are fine. But Cams, Pistons and internal mods will void your warranty!!

it runs with and beats stock banshees out of the box, the raptor isnt slow by any means.

now that you know how to jet it, get rid of that 20 pound muffler and put a slip on like fmf on it. the diff will astound you! it really wakes up. very choked stock!!!

take a good look around before you get a pipe. there are a lot of stories good and bad on this forum about almost any pipe ever made. the first question is whether to go slip on, or full system. there are a few that offer a 2 piece system that you can step up and into.

good point. my FMF powercore4sa [spark arrestor] came with a slip on adaptor to fit the stock headpipe. I was told by several reliable folks that it is unnecessary to change the headpipes unless you do internal engine mods.
I have found this good enough for me! The younger has a full Yoshi and i have the fmf slip on, tires same, he's an 02, mines an 01, repeated drag racing came out dead even. no significant difference. he was upset. Dad told him not to spend the money. oh well.
so shop around, i can only comment on FMF[I own] Yoshi{1 son owns] and stock[we've all owned.]
I have heard lots of ppl extol the virtues of several diff products, and i'm sure theyre great. It's yer money, and yer decision. make it a good one! and have fun! theres always someone faster. go riding! spring be here, except on the weekends, of course!
