Yup octane burns slower causeing a slower bike with low compression. But these fuels are lead based and provide other properties that pump fuel dosn't...solution VP's Ultimate Four. Made with stock-mild 4strokes in mind. Simply adding this fuel netted a better percentage gain than did any exhaust system. And this was a test by transworld NOT dirtwheels.

FTZLT250r that is so true. That VP gas sounds like it would be good for that 400ex. I have not researched that because I have a 2 stroke, that is some good info. I also agree that leaded race gas has better properties than pump gas, they add all kinds of crap to that gas depending on where you live etc.

I forgot to mention that if you do run a pure racing gas say KLOTZ 113, you will absolutely have to re-jet or you will run way too rich!! I tried it and had to do some major carb adjustments. I found that the 25% mix works better for my application. I also have alot of gauges so I see what I am gaining and what I am losing and a mixture worked best with my mods on my 2stroke. Just my .02

Dang gas here was about 4.00/ gallon before prices started going up, I wouldn't worry about costs at all if it were that cheap. I ordered some Klotz gas last winter and It was $32.00/ 5 gallons. After 2 , 5 gallon cans and all the handling fees and shipping costs the grand total was about $120.00
