Mr45auto is right on the money, you went the wrong way with your sprocket changes. If you want brutal acceleration for short drags (less than 1/8 mile), try 12/42 or 12/44. You'll lose top speed but until you are pinned in 5th, you won't really notice. Those 22" tires really hurt acceleration with stock gearing, I'll bet it's a dog off the line with a 14 tooth front sprocket.

I'd be more than happy to drag ya, of course you'd have to be off the bottle I'm sure my lil Rappy would be a pretty serious competitor to your 580 off the bottle hell I'd even bet ya a whole quarter....

my brother has a STOCK rappy and my cuz has a stock pred.........we raced them I am sure at least 30 times last weekend......and it turned out the same just about everytime.........
the rappy gets about a 1.5 ta 2 length hole shot........but the pred has about 2-3 mph on the rappy top end........so in the 1/2 to 3/4 mile race the pred catches back up........
drop to a 12 front sprocket or loose the big a$$ back tires!

raptor 8, what do you suggest for the valve settings? i just set them today at .102 mm intake and .152mm exhaust. is this right or do you know a better setting? thanks for the help.

shoot am not sure without my notes. mine was stone cold and i think i set the intakes at .004 inch. thats 4 thousandths of an inch. exhausts at .007. as i recall, run intakes tight for speed and loose for torque. it's late and i could be wrong. but as an example, if the factory spec is .005, run .004 for top end and .006 for guts. it takes time to adjust these things this carefully, but you will notice a difference.
I have been told by a guy i consider a pro that the exhaust valves never tighten up. i have found that to be true. maybe 0001 more lift on the exhaust valve? but it MAY hit the piston, it will definitely change the duration, so i left mine at stock.
hope this helps ya! remember to take yer time!

thanks raptor8. in inches my intake i set at .004 (102mm) and my exhaust at .006 (152mm). do you think i should go with the exhaust at .007? i was just wondering. i raced my brother and we ran neck and neck after i set my valves. i guess i set the valves right. i really appreciate the info. thanks again!
