Looked at the pdf wiring diagram I have and shows that the 2001 (early and late models) have only the Red, Brown, Yellow, and Yellow/Red wires on the regulator. Yes, the Red and Brown have a separate small double connector they hook into. Then Yellow to Yellow, Yellow/Red to Yellow/Red. Hook it up first with these only and check the charging first..... Not sure if the Yellow/brown is left disconnected on the replacement regulator on the 2001 or if a jumper wire is needed.

Okie Dokie, make sure what model and year make you have first before you try the regulator. Should be on the title if you got one! OPT

Left hand front side of the lower frame behind the arm. Should have an etched serial number. 10th digit is the year model. Just enter it in here, should tell you what you have:http://www.purepolaris.com/en-us/ATV...earch-VIN.aspx

Look on the recoil cover too. There should be a motor serial number sticker and the first two digits are the year model if someone hasn't removed it. PLUS look the old regulator over front and back and on the side, should be a number on it. OPT
