My pull rope broke and when I went to fix it obviously I had to take the cover off. When I did this the recoil was undone and the plastic looked beat up.. But its kinda weird because even after the rope broke the bike would run but tick from the rope in there. Then i turned the bike off because I did not want to damage it and then it wouldn't start back up to move it.
It seems I will need to either buy a case on ebay with the recoil and rope still in place or buy a recoil kit. Any suggestions.?
Also would this rope issue prevent the bike from starting .. It was turning over but not starting like no spark.! safety shut off. I know its still getting gas because I smell it..

Welcome! Could be the rope has tangled up with the flywheel and has it in a bind.Just depends on what all is damaged on the inside of the recoil assy as to repairing or replacing the entire assy.IF the inside of the case is damaged, the complete recoil is a little over $200 at Cycle Parts Warehouse.Look here and you can decide.
