I was doing my pre-winter maintenance on my 07 sp500 and noted that with the quad on stands I can rock the left rear wheel just enough to get an audible thunking and visually see the wheel move. The right,you can feel but not see so much. I know this is the bearings. My question is how much play is acceptable, if any. And does anyone know what the cross reference numbers are for these bearings. I seem to remember that they are federal mogul or Napa for half the cost. On a second note, the sway bar bushings aren't gone as of yet but are definitely looking like a freshen up would be in order while I'm at it. Aftermarket parts for them????

Thanks guy's I did find the federal mogul #'s 510013 which is the same as the Temkin #'s Does anyone know the Napa #'s If anyone knows the spec's for the rears I do have an industrial bearing and fastener shop nearby. Might find something way stronger there.

Well I thought wrong on the cheaper pricing on the federal mogul 510013 They were $37 each! The oem on E-bay were running about $25 So I paid a little more but hopefully beings that they were meant for an automobile instead of an ATV they will be much more durable and last for the better part of the machines life.

 

Something I found odd. Part number 510013 and 510003 have the same specs. of 40x74x40 but fit different vehicles and I found that some web sites refer to the 510003 as the go to replacement bearing. So does any know what the heck is the difference between the two cause i can't seem to find it????

 

May be the difference in sealing material. Sometimes the only way to find out something like that is ask directly at a bearing house and even then over the years I have found them stumped at times.

After further investigation I think maybe that's it. My new bearings 510013 have double rubber seals, and the best that I can tell from pic's of the 510003 they have steel in place of where the rubber seals are on mine. They claim to be sealed but I'm skeptical. With no rubber or other material aside from the steel that I can see, I believe they wouldn't hold up well in water and mud.

 

Shows both numbers to be rubber shielded here,but have to agree if the ones you did see were metal sealed,it wouldn't seal out the water as well. Amazon.com: Precision 510013 Wheel Bearing: Automotive OPT
