Default 1993 Polaris 350L carb issues

Hi all, I have a 1993 350L 4X4, its a new to me machine. There was gas coming out of the carb when i got the machine the gas is coming from the port in the bottom center of the air box side of the carb. I tore the carb apart cleaned it and put it back together, and still gas coming out. I figured it was the needle and seat, and since it is a new to me machine i purchased the complete re-build kit, new needle, seat, jets, springs, gaskets etc, plus soaked the carb body and bowl in parts cleaner over night. I put it back together, and yet again gas is coming out of the same place. One aditional thing is there was a small plastic washer that i did not know where it went

I am at a loss with tis carb, any help will be great.

Welcome! The plastic washer probably is the one that goes under the slide needle. If it's still leaking it could be a float arm level problem or the float arm and pin may need to be replaced.NORMALLY the float arm when held upside down is LEVEL with the carb body, but a worn/loose one may need to be set a little higher to lower the fuel level or simply replaced. These two parts are NOT available in the carb kits, but only through a dealer or online at places such as Cycle Parts Warehouse OR Cheap Cycle Parts. Look here under you model under "carb" to see the parts involved. Hope this helps.Browse OPT

thanks, i bent the float lever a little, and still the same, but, i disconnected the two 1/8" tubes fron the carb, and it stopped....What is the correct routing of these hoses. The way the machine was is the fitting from the motor just above the recoil went to the top of the carb, and the connection on the transmition went to the bottom of the carb on the bowl. is this correct?

Remember this is a new to me machine that i got in non running condition. I am assuming the way it was connected is the way it is supposed to be.

thanks again

If you still have the "T" that these tubes go to just chunk it and run individual tubes up out of the way and tie em to the throttle cable/choke cable and let em terminate a little under the fuel tank. These two are just air vents and you probably had the air supply to the carb blocked causing the problem of over flowing."IF" you tied the vent from the engine in together with these also, this is the counter balancer vent! Run this one up out of the way too! You can just zip tie all 3 lines together and terminate under the tank. Plus have a separate vent at the carb bottom to go past the bash plate so any fuel leakage in the future from the over flow vent wont get on the engine/gear case area. OPT

All i have is what was there. How he had it was the fitting on the motor had a 1/8" tube to the fitting on the top of the carb near the 1/4" fuel inlet. then he had the fitting on the transmition connected to the fitting on the carb bowl.If i understand you correctly the fittings on the motor and the transmittion are vents and should have never been connected to the carb. The fitting on the carb bowl most likely the overflow and should go down to the skid plate, but where should the 1/8" fitting on the top of the carb go to? is that one a vent as well?

Thanks again for your help.

Yes, it's a vent too. Sounds like you got the rest figured out. OPT
