Default charging issues

I have a 2004 predator 500... I have the battery on a maintainer.. I then go out to ride and eventually the battery dies... I have replaced the regulator and checked charging by revving motor and watch voltage go up.. seems to me it is ok but still killing batteries to the point at which I cannot recharge them and have to get a new one.. any ideas?

With the new reg/rectifier the charging rate should be between 13.5 to 14.5 volts, but this doesn't mean the battery is capable of holding the charge if it has a dead, shorted out cell. Make sure the battery connections are tight also, but I'd have the battery load tested. This will tell real quick if it needs to be replaced. I've even had new batteries that were bad straight out of the box. OPT
