Default 2008 scrambler 500

reverse light is on in forward and reverse, neutral light is on when its in neutral and it has full power in reverse without pushing override button. 4x4 works. electric switch in tranny is good I swapped it with one out of my 2000 scrambler and it does the same thing. I cant swap out the reverse limiter because they are not the same. Could that be the problem or maybe something else?

thanks
Sam

If the tranny switches are the same?the part numbers show different! Did you test the switch before it was mounted by pressing the plastic levers to see if speedo registered it?? If the reverse light is still on the speedo, probable short in the harness or connector, plus the reverse limiter is built into the speedo itself on this model. It could be faulty. There is a post on this that someone did to bypass this. I'll see if I can find this unless someone else jumps in with a quick answer.

Thanks for the quick reply. The part nos are different but I swear they are the same. But this bike doesnt have a speedo. I bought it new and it never had one. do you think it could be the rev limiter under the hood?

Sorry, thinking of a Sportsman again!Shows to have a reverse limiter module. Haven't had a problem I'm aware with this model, but entirely possible it could be faulty causing the problems. I just have to find a good test on this one.If it's like the older ones, pulling the main black wire disabled it. Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat & Polaris OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse I'll check some more and see if I can dig up some more info.Plus here's a pdf on a 2009 model(that may be the same) you can down load yourself.http://www.partshark.com/custompage3.asp?pg=polaris
