Default bearing comparison

One of my front wheel bearing is showing signs of wear and I'll be replacing it soon. last year I replaced one of the rears and picked up a federal mogul for $45 at my local auto parts shop. From what I've found I can get the OEM for $25-$30 vs $45-$50 for the federal moguls. So my question is, has anyone noticed a difference in quality between the OEM and something like the federals or Timken's. I'd like to think that the bearings made for autos are built heavier but for all I know the bearing are equal in strength and quality' not to mention made at the same place. Last year when I picked up the federal mogul 510013 for the rear the guy at the counter said they were made for the ford escort and a mazda car which I would think is much heavier and put more wear on a bearing over time so should hold up better? Your thoughts?

You can find em all over and who knows what brand Polaris uses as it seems like they changed mfgs every so often. I'd trust a Timken or a Federal Mogul over some of the others you can search up.Duralast/Wheel Bearing - Front (DL510013) | AutoZone.com

Thanks for the input OPT. Not knowing what Polaris is using for a supplier does raise concern with me. Could be using the lowest bidder sort of thing. Chinese crap possibly. I'll spend a little more and get the federals or Timken.

Are those the exact product number for the bearing that fits the polaris. I ordered mine from royal distributing and they are all ***** bearing. do you know if there a good bearing? Are the front bearings the same as the back?

These are ball bearings.Double row of bearings are under the sleeves. For the most part they use the same front and rear, but I think a couple year models are different. Best way is to look up your model and cross over the Polaris #. Several places online that have this. Polaris ATV Parts, Seals, Bearings, Bushings & Seals
Plus this may help on some things.Spam word

So my Hatfield McCoy trip is 3 weeks away and I'm just now finishing up on some pretrip stuff. I'm starting to wonder if my front bearings are still fine. I've read that other owners have noticed some play in the front wheels since new but for the life of me I can't remember how much if any play mine had new. I'm going to go back through the front end and check the torque on the castle nuts in the A.M. but pretty sure they are good. So how much play have you guys noticed in the front wheels and what is acceptable. Don't want to be sitting trail side replacing a bearing if I could have prevented it. But don't want to replace parts for no reason either.

To accurately check wheel play, pull the caliper off the rotor. You're going to have a little play, say an 1/16" out or so.Had that much on brand new ones. You can take a new wheel bearing and run your finger through it and get a little inner play.
