Speedometer issue
#1
Have 2000 xpedition 425 with speedo issues. Sometimes, not all the time when turn ignition on, but not starting it speedo will show like quad is moving. It fluctuates all over even will peg the needle and odometer will add mileage even though quad isn't running. Could this be speed sensor going bad, ground issue? I'm going to look at it tomorrow and was just trying to get some info what to look at. Speedometer light works, awd switch works. Also, when running quad sometimes speedo gives correct reading and other times reading is inaccurate, like be driving 5mph and shows doing 20mph. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Possibly the hall effect sensor on the right front caliper. Most times the sensor either worked or didn't usually not erratic. You can see if the protective cap has been damaged or mud/dirt has partially blocked it.Transition period on the sensor as early models didn't have the cap and I've found several that the sensor had been ground down. May or may not be your case.Unplug the sensor from the speedo also and see if the speedo is the problem itself. Items 22,23 on the sensor and cap. Thanks opt, will do. When I unplug Hall effect sensor speedo shouldn't show any readings, correct. If Hall effect is bad, will it hurt to run without out it. I really don't need speedo just use quad around farm don't care how fast I'm going? Just asking cause from reading other posts speedo seems to be problem area.

Won't hurt to run without it. Even knew a couple customers that unplugged theirs. Can be deceiving if you decide to plug em back in and sell as a low mileage atv though..
