Default 2008 700xp Ranger Idle problem

It starts great runs around 950 to 975 at idle but will not take gas until it warms up. It will back fire . If you let it set and Idle for 5 to 10 minutes it will take gas and run fine. As long as you don't turn it off and let it set for an hour or so it will do fine. Its just when it cools down. Any help would be great.

If you look at the "sticky" post above this section on 700/800 efi problems it shows that most problems are caused by the thin wiring and connectors, not so much the sensors themselves. On the 700 the t-bap sensor wiring was the one we had the most problems with. Sometimes you can wiggle the wiring and can notice a difference in the way they run or it may even have a bare section on the wiring or soft feeling wires that could be partially melted. This and the connectors themselves. Codes may or may not be thrown. The 700 Ranger was bad about this because the t-bap was on the air tube and wiring went under the bed back into the main harness kinda loosely. Check the wiring on it first for any obvious bare or soft spots, plus also the crank sensor harness that runs under the throttle body that can rub a bare spot on wiring from touching the starter. Best to tie it up if it's touching the engine.Backfiring was another symptom mainly on t-bap wiring issues also. From your description a t-bap harness repair kit may solve the problem and better ones are available than what the dealers have.Only The Best Plus you can remove the t-bap from the air tube and clean it off and see if that helps first.
