Rear brake caliper on 98 sportsman trans
So i took a 98 sportsman that had the trans from a 1996. Swapped out the trans with another grom a 1997. I thought the only difference on them was that there was a nut that actually held the rotor down on the trans shaft. Well i guess they changed the calipers. The bolt pattern on them is about a 1/2" diff. Etc. Has anyone tried to use a 1996 rear caliper on a 1998-02 transmission? Im sure an adapter plate could be made to make it work. Otherwise have to buy a whole new caliper, rear resorvoir,w hydraul. Cyl etc. I do have the rear caliper and cylinder but they are pretty. Tired only one caliper cylinder will push out

Problem with an adapter plate is that you couldn't get the rotor and caliper lined up properly without eating up pads, plus have to crossbreed a manual emergency brake type caliper with a hydraulic emergency brake system. 96 and 97 were similar on calipers, rotors changed on the 97 models. 98 was a completely different system. Basically it's best on whatever transmission you have to scavenge the correct brake parts, caliper, brake pedal, etc from salvage places, ebay, etc.
