I have had my machine for sale. I have a buyer. I was literally getting ready to load it to meet the buyer 1/2 way and it stalls in reverse. UGH!!!

I did my research and find out the likely cause is a rev limiter. After extensive searches online and a call to a dealer, I am led to believe the rev limiter is part of the CDI box. Is the rev limiter a part of the CDI box or is it a separate component? If a different component, is the rev limiter known by a different name? I want to get the right part to fix the problem but I don't want to pay three times the price for OEM parts at a dealer versus an aftermarket part.

I don't think the sale is lost as long as I can get it fixed in a timely manner... and that doesn't mean bypassing the limiter. As an honest seller, I want it right before I sell it.

2003 still had the limiter module. Pull or cut the black wire from the module and it should stop the the dying in reverse. Plus you can have full power in reverse without having to push the over ride button. Tell the potential buyer what you've done as the limiter modules all fail. And that wouldn't be lying as they do fail.. If they wish to replace this module you can find them here.
